Tour Marrakech – Ouzoud : 7 nights

The great thing about this city is that it is nice and compact, so you can do almost everything on foot. The Medina is the old center where the beating heart of the city is located. It is wonderfully busy and noisy here, but this is the ultimate Marrakech! At the famous Place Djemaa El Fna you will find many snake charmers and monkeys during the day who are mainly there to take a photo with. In the evening it is a great cacophony of plays, music and fun. You can have your future predicted by a fortune teller or have your hands decorated with henna. Of course, a delicious Moroccan dish should not be missed during your stay. In the part closer to the souks you can eat the most delicious "Harira" (lentil soup) very cheaply.

You will stay at Hotel le Domaine M. Ouzoud (or equivalent) for the next 3 nights, including breakfast A tour is of course not a real tour if you always stay in the same place. The impressive Ouzoud it is today! You will leave the hustle and bustle of Marrakech at 8:30 AM for the peaceful nature of the Ouzoud Waterfalls located in the Middle Atlas Mountains. It is one of the most spectacular sights in Morocco where you can even spot monkeys! But before you get here, you have a drive of approximately 3.5 hours ahead of you. There will be two more stops along the way.

Today at 10 a.m. a half-day excursion (4 hours) awaits you at 10 a.m. led by an English-speaking guide. As you may have already seen, you won't be able to get enough of this beautiful area. For example, have you already had a nice lunch at the waterfalls? Also consider taking a trip along the waterfalls on a boat made from floating barrels. They may look a bit "rickety" at first glance and will occasionally even collide with each other, but... don't panic, the boats are very sturdy and the captain knows exactly what he is doing. He will drop you off on the other side from where you can choose to walk further up and enjoy beautiful views or continue to the base of the waterfall. Of course you can also choose to do both!

In the beautiful hills around the impressive waterfall you will find many Barbary macaques! Because they are fed a lot by tourists, they are not afraid. You will be regularly offered nuts to feed the monkeys. Is it wise? No, probably not! If people continue to feed them, they will become completely dependent on this food. Tip: secure your sunglasses (and other loose items)! The monkeys are lightning fast but photogenic pickpockets and before you know it you have lost something.

You will stay at Hotel Riad Zanouba (or equivalent) for the next 2 nights, including breakfast Today you still have some time to explore Ouzoud further, because you won't leave for Marrakech until around 4 p.m. along the way you will have 1 stop and you will arrive in Marrakech around 7:30 PM. You may have noticed it before, but in the old center you will come across many rooftop bars where you can plop down on a nice cushion like a real "local" and of course drink a cup of fresh mint tea. If you don't have a big sweet tooth, order your tea with the sugar served separately, because they drink it here with a lot of sugar! Are you still looking for a nice souvenir for yourself or for the dog sitter? If you delve into the small streets of the Medina, you don't have to look for long. In the many colorful shops you will see the most beautiful handmade rugs. Too big for the suitcase? No problem, it is normal here that they just send it to you.

As if you haven't seen enough colors yet, a visit to Jardin Majorelle should not be missed. A French painter bought this land in the city to create a beautiful and colorful garden with plants from all over the world. The famous Ives Saint Laurent later took over the house and garden and now you can stroll through it. You will also find a small Berber museum here where you can admire traditional clothing, jewelry and other interesting items. In the former Bahia Palace you can admire part of the 150 rooms. You will be amazed by the immense ceilings of handmade wood carvings and colorful mosaics! It is one of the most visited sights in the city, so expect crowds. If you go early in the morning, the crowds won't be too bad. If you still have some room in your suitcase, you can stroll through the souks in the Medina. Here they sell beautiful handmade leather bags, tableware, rugs and cushions. When you walk here you will immediately see why the Medina is on the UNESCO World Heritage List!
